Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed this holiday season with your loved ones, even if virtually.
Yesterday, Georgians cast their ballots across the state, rendering Rev. Raphael Warnock (D) a historic victory against Kelly Loeffler, the appointed Republican Sen. and co-owner of the Atlanta Dream team.
I won't spend too much time illuminating Loeffler's unsavory stock dealings during the initial phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, it is crucial to note that Loeffler and her husband sold 27 stocks between January 24, 2020, and February 14, 2020, valued at $1.28 million and $3.1 million, according to Senate financial disclosure records (CNN).
Concurrently, millions of Americans became infected with Covid-19, leaving hundreds of thousands dead. Others were left without jobs, access to Covid-19 testing, healthcare, food, homes, and that's barely scratching the surface of the challenges so many, including Georgians, have had to endure and still are. The effects have been incredibly woeful.
Not only is this a disgustingly unethical abuse of political power on her part, but it also reveals Loeffler's inability to relate and serve the population of Georgia earnestly. In other words, instead of using her position to help, her lust for financial and social gain cost many Georgias their lives and livelihoods.
Nevertheless, I have heard most are confident Senator-elect Warnock will work to transform the political and social landscape throughout the state, which has created a sense of hope for the future.

Also, If you are still looking for ways to volunteer during the final stretch of this election, voter advocacy groups and political parties are beginning the process of ballot curing.
Ballot curing is the act of "curing" or fixing ballots by contacting voters whose vote has not been counted due to issues like missing or mismatched signatures. This is standard practice after an election to ensure that everyone's vote is counted correctly.
I will amplify a few opportunities below.
Usually, vote curing is a partisan issue and has the potential to become incredibly polarizing. Neither party wants to lose, but vote curing supports one of the Democratic values our country was founded upon, in that every vote must be counted.
Please keep this in mind if you decide to volunteer.
I hope this new year is metamorphic for all of you!
See you next week.
In Solidarity,
Morgan
